The Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP) Wexford Local Development offers a variety of services to unemployed people within County Wexford.
Local Area Employment Service (LAES)
Through the Local Area Employment Service (LAES), Wexford Local Development helps unemployed people throughout County Wexford find work.
TÚS / RSS
The TÚS and Rural Social Scheme (RSS) are community work placement schemes providing working opportunities for unemployed people throughout Ireland. The work done benefits the community and is provided by not-for-profit community and voluntary organisations.
Community Employment Schemes (Cornmarket & WARM)
The Little Jobs Service which is resourced by the TÚS programme, completed 1160 small maintenance jobs for older people around the county during 2015. The service also collaborated with the Lions Club in late 2015 to deliver the ‘Message in a Bottle’ to their clients.
Jobs Initiative
Wexford Local Development currently supports the placement of 9 Job Initiative Programme workers throughout Co. Wexford. External community projects supported by workers from the programme include:
- Duncannon Fort
- Gorey Family Resource Centre
- Raheen Childcare Centre
- Templeshannon Community Development Project
- New Ross Community Allotments Project
The wide range of activities undertaken by workers on the programme includes areas ranging from adult literacy provision and community supports to project co-ordination and horticulture.
This successful FAS funded programme was established in 2000 with 30 places, offering real work experience and educational opportunities and it has supported transitions into employment and further education, enhancing life and work experience.
