We provide a range of targeted community development supports to local communities, groups and networks who work with specific marginalised communities across Co. Wexford, through the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP). We do this through:

• Using community development approaches to tackling area-based poverty, marginalisation and social exclusion 
• Building leadership within communities
• Supporting and enhancing collaboration between existing community structures to develop and help implement tailored community work responses to the specific challenges faced locally 
• Empowering local communities to craft their own response to tackling community challenges and inequalities

Community Development is the task of achieving collective social change by empowering individuals and groups to improve their communities and address social issues like poverty, discrimination, and inequality through participation and collective action. It focuses on long-term social justice, human rights, and creating a more equitable society by working with communities rather than for them.
