Our relationship with nature is a living, breathing exchange — renewed each time we step onto our cherished walking trails. These paths invite us into the quiet wisdom of the forest, but they also remind us of the responsibility that comes with such access.
Storm winds sometimes bring trees down; other times they leave them leaning, held in the branches of their neighbours. These moments are part of the forest’s natural rhythm, yet they call us to act with care. Managing our forestry sections is as essential as shaping the trails themselves, ensuring that every walker can move safely beneath the canopy.
And when trees fall — fully or partially — our work doesn’t end with clearing. We intentionally replant native species, returning life to the spaces left behind. This is how we honour the land: by ensuring the longevity and resilience of each forested section, so that the ecosystem remains whole, rooted, and thriving.
This very work has been carried out recently at Mount Nebo Trail by Hollyfort Development Group, Gorey, Co. Wexford — a thoughtful, skilled effort that deserves immense credit. Their dedication reflects a shared belief: that caring for the forest means caring for the wildlife, the landscape, and the generations of people who will one day walk these same paths in search of peace and wellbeing.
