Wexford Local Development has cancelled all face-to-face meetings as we all try to stay safe & well and stop the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) during March 2020.
This includes having to cancel our weekly Traveller Women’s Health groups. Instead, we are working to get COVID-19 information to Traveller families through our Traveller Community Health team.
All of our Traveller Community Health Workers will be sharing official HSE information and advice, which is updated every day and we are working alongside the HSE’s Traveller Health Unit to respond to questions – so you can be sure you are getting the best information possible.
The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government have issued a Circular to Local Authorities on COVID-19 which shows how they will work with Traveller organisations and makes provision for a number of additional supports, especially on halting sites. Click here for full information on Pavee Point website
The Traveller Health Unit Co ordinator as met with Wexford County Council & WLD’s Health Team are working closely with the THU at local community level.
Even if you have no medical card, there is no charge for COVID- 19 triage and testing, but people will need to provide details to the GP including name, address, date of birth, symptoms, underlying health conditions and PPSN, You must ring the Doctor first before attending.
